ORLANDO, Fla. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — Charlotte FC dropped its third straight match Wednesday night, losing on the road to Orlando City, 2-0.
The Crown only had two shots on goal, and Orlando goalkeeper Pedro Gallese kept both out of the net. It was the second time Charlotte FC was shut out in three matches.
After a scoreless first half, Orlando first scored 52 minutes into the match. Facundo Torres easily knocked one home from the right side off a baseline pass through the box from Martín Ojeda.
Orlando then sealed its victory with a Duncan McGuire goal in the 89th minute. He broke free from the defense and put one over the arms of FC keeper Kristijan Kahlina.
In addition to the margin on the scoreboard, Orlando also held the possession advantage for 58 percent of the match. They shut out their third straight opponent.
Charlotte fell to 10-11-8 and sits in seventh place in the MLS Eastern Conference. Orlando improved to 12-10-7 (fourth).
The match was FC midfielder Brandt Bronico’s 100th match with The Crown, the first player to accomplish the feat.
FC returns to Bank of America Stadium Saturday, Sept. 21, when they host New England.
