CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — Charlotte FC added three players Friday through the MLS SuperDraft 2025
The club chose University of Connecticut defender Mikah Thomas in the first round, followed by another man for the back line in Round 2, Andrew Johnson, then forward Barzee Blama.
Here is lowdown on their selections:
- Mikah Thomas, 21, was taken ninth overall in the college draft. The 6-foot-2 defender appeared in 26 matches for UConn and scored four goals. He’s a native of Ponte Vedra, Florida.
- Andrew Johnson, 20, was taken 47th overall out of Cornell, where he twice earned All-Ivy League honors. Also at 6-2, he started in all 50 matches for the Big Red, and previously spent five years with the Philadelphia Union Acadamy.
- Barzee Blama, 19, was taken with the 77th overall pick after two seasons with Mercer. The 6-1 forward scored 13 goals and tallied three assists over two seasons for the Bears. The Snellville, Georgia, native was named to the All-SoCon Second Team in 2023 and 2024, 2023 SoCon All-Tournament Team and was named 2023 SoCon Freshman of the Year.
Charlotte FC will open the 2025 season Feb. 22 at Seattle.

- Round 2, 48th overall: Bo Cummins (Houston Dynamo FC) – D, Wake Forest
- Round 3, 62nd overall: Donovan Phillip (Colorado Rapids) – F, N.C. State
- Round 3, 66th overall: Ethan Ballek (Nashville SC) – F, South Carolina
- Round 3, 70th overall: Jonah Biggar (D.C. United) – D, South Carolina
- Round 3, 73rd overall: Arthur Duquenne (CF Montréal) – D, Clemson
