The rookie wide receiver has played well in camp, but he’ll be on the shelf for a bit.
Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver left practice on Sunday with what the team called a lower leg injury. It is unrelated to the hamstring injury that kept him out during parts of the offseason program. Dave Canales specified that it was a foot injury, but both the X rays and the MRI have come back negative. That said, the Panthers are still going to hold Legette out of the preseason opener on Thursday and are calling him day to day.
Legette probably won’t play Thursday in the @Panthers preseason opener per Canales “out of the abundance of caution”. Said the MRI news revealed no fracture which was a “fantastic” outcome. Remains day-to-day.

It’s good news in the end. Training camp injuries are the worst injuries, especially when it’s a highly rated rookie that’s been having a good game. Thankfully it’s nothing serious, and Legette should be back on the practice field for too long.
The only concern is that this is now two injuries for the first round pick, and we haven’t even made it to the start of his first preseason with the team. Hopefully it just turns out to be a small blip rather than the start of a trend.
