Reality is here. What’s next for the reigning worst team in the league?
Welcome to our weekly game pick series where I will attempt to guide you through picking every Carolina Panthers game of the 2024 season. Buckle up, it’s probably going to get rough. This week is going to be a great time at the Panthers home opener as the team faces an opponent with their own new coach, the Los Angeles Chargers.
As much as I want to pick the Panthers this week, I simply can’t. I’m not a big fan of Jim Harbaugh, but he is head and shoulders above Dave Canales’ level as an NFL head coach right now. My FanDuel pick for Week 2 is the Los Angeles Chargers. I think they further crush Carolina’s hopes for the season with a score-on-every-possession style, 54-10 win in Charlotte.
The Panthers rewarded our lack of faith in the talent level of their defense last week. Meanwhile, Bryce Young seems hellbent on removing his name from any conversation about quarterbacks on Justin Herbert’s level. Combine that with the loss of Derrick Brown against a very run heavy team in the Chargers, and you do not get a recipe for the Panthers’ success.
I’ll sell you some optimism come Monday, but for right now I’d put money on the Chargers.
