Welcome to Monday Night Football
The 0-3 Tennessee Titans are up against the 1-2 Miami Dolphins tonight on ESPN’s Monday Night Football at 8:15 ET while the 3-0 Seattle Seahawks are visiting the 2-1 Detroit Lions at 8:30 PM ET on ABC. Only one of these matches promises to be any good and it is not the won between two losing teams.
As always in our brave new world of expansive sports gambling, it is now easier to bet on games than to watch them. You can catch current odds on all NFL games for Week 4 here on FanDuel.
The Titans and the Dolphins are going to struggle to field a competent quarterback between them. Tua Tagovailoa suffered another scary concussion earlier this season and has put in doubt both his own future and that of the 2024 Dolphins. On the other hand, the Titans are relatively healthy and are proving themselves to be just plain bad in Brian Callahan’s first year as head coach. I’m putting the edge here to the team with the proven head coach and the bevy of skill players who can (hopefully) elevate the play of their quarterback. That’s why I’m picking the Miami Dolphins to win the first game tonight.
The Seahawks and the Lions, on the other hand, are both eyeing return trips to the playoffs in 2024. This game is harder to predict as there are few obvious mismatches between these two talented teams. The biggest concern for the Seahawks is their interior defensive line holding up against a strong Lions offensive line and the one-two punch of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.
The Lions advantage in the running game will help them keep drives alive where the Seahawks may struggle. That’s why I’m picking the Detroit Lions to win tonight.
As always, use this space to talk about the action as it unfolds.
You know the drill.
