We’re deep enough into the NFL season to have a good idea of most teams’ trajectory. Among those flailing is the Dallas Cowboys, causing owner (and president… and general manager) Jerry Jones to crash out.
Despite dragging his feet in offering offseason contract extensions to Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, Jones is blaming everyone but himself. He accuses head coach Mike McCarthy of running terrible offensive plays and threatened local radio hosts for lightly grilling him.
So our hosts, Rodney Rikai and Samaria Terry, investigate whether Jerry Jones is his own franchise’s worst enemy.
“He and his son are running this organization like an AAU team. They have no ability to construct a roster for the modern NFL era. They’re grossly overpaying players who are average at best,” Rikai said about Dak Prescott. Jerry has been a hindrance to this organization for quite some time. Unfortunately, I think he’s cursing his organization with his presence, and until he removes himself, the Cowboys won’t have success.
But while the Cowboys are trying to reconfigure the season, the New York Liberty landed on top, securing the franchise’s first-ever WNBA Championship after defeating the Minessota Lynx.
While the Liberty ecstatically marched in their downtown New York City parade, the victory wasn’t without controversy.
Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve, players, and fans have called out late-game officiating on a call that sent Breanna Stewart to the line, ultimately leading to overtime. Napheesa Collier even threw shade at the officiating and posted a photo of her getting struck in the face, but the referees never called it.
Terry took on the questionable play calling and expanded on whether the Lynx officiating complaints were valid.
“Whatever Cheryl Reeve said, I’m here for it. I love the way Napheesa Collier posted her clearly being fouled on Instagram. It was very subtle shade on the officiating, which I think was warranted,” Terry said. “I feel like if it’s a game of this magnitude, you’re either going to call it tight or call nothing and let the women play. I feel like it would have shifted the game if it had been called evenly.
Despite the play calling, Terry was more disappointed in Sabrina Ionescu‘s 5-point performance.
