NFL playoffs are in full swing, and some fans have already accused certain calls of being too lenient.
Of course, they weren’t to the losing team but rather the Kansas City Chiefs, who are attempting a feat never seen before: winning three Super Bowls in a row.
Cohost Samaria Terry mentions that during the game against the Houston Texans, they were penalized for two calls against Patrick Mahomes, both of which were scoring drives, including one crucial third-down call.
Cohost Rodney Rikai can see why the league could be doting on Mahomes with some valid points about his star power.
“Don’t you breathe your hot lineman breath on Patrick Mahomes,” Rikai jokes. “This is what they should do. He’s too important to the league, and so are the Chiefs. At some point, things will turn, but at this current moment, I think the overall intrigue and investment is into the Chiefs. You also have to take into account the Taylor Swift effect. It’s important for them to have a level of success. And that’s business.”
The crew also discusses the quarterback Mahomes could possibly face off against in the Super Bowl, Washington Commanders’ Jayden Daniels.
Could he be in the midst of the best rookie season for a quarterback of all time?
Terry recognizes the divisional round game Daniels played against the Detroit Lions and how he didn’t let the fandom and loudness of the stadium sway him, crediting Kliff Kingsbury’s guidance as well.
Rikai is so impressed by Daniels’ run that he even compares it to Mike Vick‘s Philadelphia Eagles stint, praising “his command, poise, and touch.”
In the rest of the episode, the hosts talk about Jimmy Butler’s Miami drama and talk to special guest former NFL player Garrick Jones.
