Super Bowl LIX weekend has finally arrived, and after some close calls in the playoffs, the Kansas City Chiefs will be taking on the Philadelphia Eagles.
While it is a repeat of the Super Bowl LVII from just two years ago, there have been some additions and subtractions on both teams that could sway things
this time around. And one of the biggest pickups for Philly has been running back Saquon Barkley.
But let our cohosts Rodney Rikai and Samaria Terry break down who they think will hoist the Vince Lombardi on Sunday night.
Rikai is going for Patrick Mahomes, completing the NFL’s first-ever three-peat.
“I’m going Chiefs, there’s something about history being on the brink of happening that I just feel like it’s just a healthier storyline for the NFL,” Rikai explains. “I just think that the Chief’s defense has been absolutely incredible, and the Eagle’s defense has been as well. So those two things kind of neutralize each other, so it’s going to come down to offense. And respectfully and lovingly, I’m going Patty Mahomes.”
The hosts are sticking together. Terry thinks the Chiefs will also win, but only if the Eagles—namely Barkley—are unable to use their time with the ball efficiently. Like many viewers, she’s more amped to see Kendrick Lamar perform during the halftime show.
“I always considered Kansas City to be like a well-oiled machine, like the Warriors or the Bulls back in the day. Unfortunately, they know how to win. They are professional winners, and in order for Saquon Barkley, in this offense, to be able to beat them, they’re gonna have to do it quickly and convincingly. They cannot leave any little doubt for Kansas City in this matchup, so unfortunately, I’m gonna have to go Kansas City, too. I am actually more excited about seeing Kendrick,” Terry says.
