CHARLOTTE (BLACK & BLUE KICKOFF LIVE) — After a tense joint practice, the Panthers and the Jets square off Saturday night at Bank of America Stadium for the second of three preseason games.
The Panthers took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter with a 35-yard field goal from kicker Eddy Pineiro.
The Jets matched the Panthers at 49 yards with kicker Greg Zuerlein sending a 36-yard field goal.
The third quarter heated up with back-to-back-to-back field goals between Jets’ kicker Austin Seibert and Pineiro, ending the quarter 9-6 Jets.
Seibert scores two more field goals in the fourth quarter before Jets running back Dillon Johnson secures the only touchdown of the game just as the clock runs out.
Jets win, 15-12 final.
The starters didn’t play in the first game and, likely, leaving only the third and final game against the Bills next week for the starters to get game-action snaps in before week one on Sept. 8.
Panther’s next preseason game is set for Aug. 24 on the road against the Buffalo Bills at 1 p.m.
