Earlier today, former Panthers head coach, Ron Rivera, joined the Mac & Bone Show, on WFNZ, to reflect on his time in Carolina, with the Panthers. Rivera orchestrated the greatest era of Panther football, which saw the team win three NFC South titles from 2013-15, play in Super Bowl 50, and go to the NFL postseason four times in five years. Since David Tepper moved on from Rivera during the 2019 season, the franchise has failed to go back to the postseason, let alone post a winning record, going through multiple head coaching changes, most recently firing Frank Reich, after a 1-11 start last season.

This isn’t the first time Rivera has joined WFNZ, but today’s conversation was as open and as honest as any before, as Rivera talked about the challenges of coaching Can Newton, what hurt him the most about losing Super Bowl 50 to the Denver Broncos, and why he’s optimistic about the future of the Panthers, with Dave Canales, and Bryce Young.
You can listen to the Mac & Bone Show (Charlotte’s #1 morning show), every weekday from 6-10 AM, on Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ, and the WFNZ app.
