The Carolina Panthers have another void on their coaching staff.
According to Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer, Panthers assistant offensive line coach Keli’i Kekuewa is expected to join the Jacksonville Jaguars. His role, per Kaye, has yet to be specified.
Kekuewa began his NFL coaching career as an offensive assistant with the Seattle Seahawks in 2020. That would also be where he first crossed professional paths with Panthers head coach Dave Canales, who spent 13 years in Seattle.
After 2020, the Seahawks promoted Kekuewa to their assistant offensive line coaching position. He’d serve in that spot for three years before being hired in the same position by the Panthers.
In addition to Kekuewa, the Panthers have also parted ways with the following coaches this offseason:
- Offensive passing game coordinator Nate Carroll
- Outside linebackers coach Tem Lukabu
- Safeties coach Bert Watts
- Assistant defensive backs coach DeAngelo Hall
- Defensive quality control coach Bobby Maffei
