Welcome back to Thursday Night Football
The NFL season is back with the most rousing and likely-to-be-competitive iteration of Thursday Night Football that we may have ever seen. It’s an AFC Championship rematch between the reigning Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs and the perennial runner up Baltimore Ravens. The game is tonight at 8:20 ET on NBC.
As always in our brave new world of expansive sports gambling, it is now easier to bet on games than to watch them. You can catch current odds on all NFL games for Week 1 here on FanDuel.
As for the game tonight, it is going to be billed as a battle between two titans at quarterback. That is certainly true to an extent. Patrick Mahomes is busy building a new dynasty in Kansas City. Lamar Jackson has all the talent in the world, but has faced a poorly timed combination of injuries across his team and the buzzsaw that is those Chiefs in the playoffs.
The Ravens nearly toppled the Chiefs in last season’s AFC Championship game, falling short by only one touchdown in a surprisingly defense-forward affair. That’s why I’m picking the Baltimore Ravens to win tonight. These two teams are close, and I think the addition of Derrick Henry to the Ravens is going to help Baltimore grind out a tight win against a Chiefs team that hasn’t changed too much for the better this offseason.
As always, use this space to talk about the action as it unfolds.
You know the drill.
This is now an open thread!
