CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — Panthers backup quarterback Andy Dalton is staying in Carolina, after signing a new two-year deal, the team announced Tuesday.
The 37-year-old Dalton was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March.
Dalton has appeared in nine games the last two seasons. In his five starts in 2024, the team went 1-4 in that stretch. He has thrown nine touchdowns and six interceptions during his Panthers tenure.
He was injured in a car wreck in November, leading to Bryce Young returning to the starting role, the team touts him supporting the former No. 1 overall pick.
“Me and Andy are super close,” Young said in a team release. “From when I first got here, just being able to talk with him through things, him having perspective on a situation that I had never been a part of, I was always leaning on him, always having conversations and just from a day-to-day basis.”
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Dalton has thrown for 39,500 yards and 253 touchdowns over his 14-year career.
