A quick look at the best Carolina Panthers bets on FanDuel
Fans of the Carolina Panthers are back in a familiar place: having no idea what to expect from the team’s offense on any given Sunday. Will Andy Dalton show up looking like the Hero of Las Vegas or like Bryce Young wearing an Andy Dalton costume. It’s anybody’s guess. You can catch current odds on all NFL games for Week 6 here on FanDuel.
This space is going to offer weekly updates and advice on player and team prop bets specific to the Carolina Panthers. Take a look:
Any Time TD Scorer
Chuba Hubbard -115
Hubbard is rated as the second likeliest touchdown scorer in this game by any time odds, ending his streak as the likeliest scorer. He is well behind Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson (-185) in that category. Hubbard has scored every week that Dalton has started so far, twice on the ground and once through the air.
Still, Hubbard is a player for the Carolina Panthers. Nothing is guaranteed offensively, so bet on them with extreme caution.
Player Passing Yds
Andy Dalton O/U 220.5 (-113/-113)
Dalton has thrown for approximately 100 fewer yards in each successive game since he took over as the starter in Week 3. Extrapolating that regression to Week 6 and my definitely accurate analytics say that he will throw for about 40 yards tomorrow.
On the other hand, Dalton will be facing an anemic Atlanta pass rush—one of my favorite traditions in the NFL. Odds are he exceeds his 136-yard performance from last week. The question here is by how much.
Receptions
Jonathan Mingo – O/U 2.5 (-132/+102)
Dionate Johnson – O/U 5.5 (-102/-128)
Xavier Legette – O/U 3.5 (-114/-114)
These odds have hardly moved in the last two weeks. All three hit the over against the Bengals and all three hit the under against the Bears. The Canales offense seems to emphasize spreading the ball around. Johnson is the clear number one receiver and, either by chance or design, Legette and Mingo are looking like the number two or three options.
That said, Dalton—or a combo of Dalton and Young—have targeted eight-plus players each week. This offense will, to some degree, work with whatever an opposing defense leaves open. That means there is no guarantee for or against any one guy having a big week. I expect, if they all stay healthy, that each of those three receivers will have enough targets to hit their over. Whether they stay healthy and whether they drop any catchable balls is way above my pay grade.
