A quick look at the best Carolina Panthers bets on FanDuel
The wheels haven’t fallen off yet for the Carolina Panthers new look offense. The new look, for those of you tuning in is just Andy Dalton completing passes to receivers from behind one of the most efficient offensive lines in professional football. You can catch current odds on all NFL games for Week 4 here on FanDuel.
This space is going to offer weekly updates and advice on player and team prop bets specific to the Carolina Panthers. Take a look:
Any Time TD Scorer
Chuba Hubbard +120
Hubbard is rated as the likeliest touchdown scorer in this game by any time odds, just ahead of Chicago Bears running back D’Andre Swift (+130). Hubbard has scored every week that Dalton has started so far, once on the ground and once through the air.
That said, last week’s opening drive against the Cincinnati Bengals saw the team have four attempts to score starting at the Cincinnati two yard line. Three of those attempts were shotgun runs for Hubbard that gained a total of one yard. The Panthers turned the ball over on downs at the Cincinnati one yard line. That event might scare me away from this prop until the team has proven they are better than running out of the shotgun at the goal line.
Player Passing Yds
Andy Dalton O/U 214.5 (-110/-110)
Dalton passed for 220 yards last week in spite of throwing the ball 40 times. That hit the under on a 226.5 yard line. With this Bears game harder to predict than last week’s against the Bengals, I’d have a hard time justifying the over in Week 5.
Receptions
Jonathan Mingo – O/U 2.5 (-110/-110)
Dionate Johnson – O/U 5.5 (+108/-140)
Xavier Legette – O/U 3.5 (+128/-122)
These odds have hardly moved from last week despite all three players hitting the over in a high volume passing game. The Canales offense seems to emphasize spreading the ball around. Johnson is the clear number one receiver and, either by chance or design, the team gave Legette the opportunity to earn the number two spot last week.
The Bears defense is basically at full strength and is as good as any the Panthers have faced so far this year. I wouldn’t bet on the team having as much success on offense as they have enjoyed the past two weeks now that multiple weeks of film exist on the offense.
