Last night, the Hornets drafted Tidjane Salaun with the sixth pick in the NBA Draft, a move that surprised virtually every Hornets fan, as he wasn’t mentioned during the draft process. Salaun is from France, and is very raw, but has the potential to be the four-man, the Hornets need as they move into this new era of Hornets basketball. On the surface, this feels like a boom or bust pick, something that Charlotte didn’t necessarily have to do in this draft, even though it’s been regarded as one of the weakest drafts ever. If their core of young talent were to finally stay healthy, there’s a chance they could compete for a Play-In spot next season. With that in mind, you’d think they’d draft someone that could help them next season, like a Dalton Knecht, but instead, they opted to draft someone that is at least two years away from producing at the NBA level.

ESPN basketball analyst Paul Biancardi joined the Mac & Bone Show earlier this morning on WFNZ, as he defended the draft choice of Tidjane Salaun, he outlined how Salaun’s game will translate to the NBA, what he needs to work on to become the best player possible, and how he’ll fit in Charlotte.
You can listen to the Mac & Bone Show, (Charlotte’s #1 morning show), every weekday from 6-10 AM, on Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ, and the WFNZ app.
