CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — Rookie wideout Xavier Legette is looking to put Carolina’s most nail-biting recent loss behind him.
Legette told CSL Thursday that he plans on having offseason wrist surgery, and has been dealing with an injury since the Saints game Nov. 3.
The South Carolina product had a critical drop against the Eagles Sunday in the team’s final drive which would’ve likely been the game-tying touchdown.
Legette also said that his wrist issues trace back to 2021 while he was in college.
However, he isn’t using the injury as an excuse for his drops in recent weeks.
“I’m not looking for the sympathy,” he said. “I know what I got to do and what I need to do. I’ve been playing football for a long time. I’ve been in positions where I did that before. I’m always hard on myself. I want to be a great player for a long time. I want to do what’s right to stay in this league.”
Despite some critical drops in recent weeks, Legette still leads the Panthers with 39 catches, 432 yards and four receiving touchdowns.
