CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — The rain from Helene will move out in time for the Panthers home game Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Carolina will be looking to notch another win under its belt against a team still seeking their first win.
Another key name popped up on the team’s injury report Friday. Starting wide receiver Diontae Johnson was not on the field at all during practice.
Johnson, who was a full participant on Wednesday, is dealing with a groin issue, so the Panthers decided to err on the side of caution ahead of Sunday.
The receiver room was already shorthanded with Adam Thielen placed on injured reserve this week.
Being without Johnson would be another tough blow with him being fresh off a career-high 122-yard performance in Las Vegas. He is, however, expected to practice Friday in the team’s final workout ahead of kickoff at Bank of America Stadium.
Regardless of guys being down, Offensive Coordinator Brad Idzik has all the confidence in his young corps of wideouts.
Other players not on the practice field include starting linemen Damien Lewis and Shy Tuttle, who have elbow and foot injuries, respectively.
Some good news on the injury front is that defensive end A’Shawn Robinson returned to the field.
