BUFFALO, N.Y. (BLACK & BLUE KICKOFF LIVE) — The Panthers have their last preseason game before the start of the 2024 season and the starters are expected to play. Well, most of them, at least.
Only 17 players are listed as inactive according to the Panthers. Austin Corbett, Damien Lewis, Tommy Tremble, Jadeveon Clowney, Jaycee Horn, and Xavier Woods are the starters who won’t be suiting up on Saturday.
Bryce Young, however, is expected to suit up and play. The expectation is the starters will only play one drive, but that could change depending on how it goes and if head coach Canales wants to see more from his starting units.
Josh Allen and most of the starters for the Buffalo Bills will not be playing. Most of them played in the team’s preseason opener against the Chicago Bears.
But that won’t deter the Panthers from how much or how little its starters play. “My hope is to get the starters out there early in the game, get them some exposure,” Canales said on Friday. “The importance of it to me is how valuable the night before prep is. Waking up in the morning we have a one o’clock kick, we have a lot of those this year. So just the body readiness, the plan behind this camp was to practice early so we could have that readiness going into this season where most of our kicks are one o’clock. This is a great opportunity to go through their pregame routines with each other, to have the communications on the sidelines as we go into the first drive…” “I love this opportunity for the guys and they’re excited about it,” Canales said.
Saturday’s final preseason game starts at 1 p.m. from Highmark Stadium in Buffalo.
