CHICAGO, IL. (BLACK & BLUE KICKOFF LIVE) — For the second straight game Andy Dalton is playing one of his former teams. This week, the Panthers are traveling to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Bears.
Even though the Panthers lost to the Bengals in Week 4, they put up at least 30 points in back-to-back games, something they haven’t done since Weeks 5 and 6 in 2019 (five years ago!). The offense is definitely improving and it’s led by Dalton, who in two starts has 539 passing yards, five passing touchdowns and just one interception. According to NFL.com, he currently has a QB rating of 101.4, which ranks second in his entire career only behind the 2015 season (106.2).
The Bears offense, on the other hand, hasn’t had a great season so far which should help an injured Panthers defense. The Bears are bottom five in QB rating, passing yards per attempt, rushing yards and yards per carry.
The Panthers are 4-8 in 12 previous games against the Bears. Carolina has lost the last three and six out of the last seven, including last year 16-13 which was also in Chicago.
Sunday’s Week 5 game between the Panthers and Bears from Solider Field starts at 1 p.m. on FOX Charlotte.
