CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Progress has come rather rapidly around the Carolina Panthers practice field, located near Bank of America Stadium in Uptown Charlotte.
For those living nearby, they said it comes with the cost of living so close to being able to walk to Panthers home games, but new arrivals into nearby neighborhoods said they are surprised by the amount of traffic already there.
“It wasn’t in the Zillow ad when I got this place,” said Casey Godbold, who recently moved into one of the neighborhoods close to the Panthers practice property.
The property is surrounded by fencing and some nearby construction, which has been a consistent feature there since plans were drawn out for the Panthers practice facility in Uptown.
Godbold is just now realizing what she moved into.
“We’re already sitting in traffic while just trying to get into our house,”
For the uninitiated, Panthers Training Camp, when it was at Wofford College in Spartanburg, drew sizable crowds that only let up somewhat during the length of the camp.
However, there is a general feeling that the crowds will only be bigger, and more consistent, given the camp’s new address in the Queen City.
Free tickets to the camp can now be reserved as work continues at the site.
Queen City News reached out to Panthers officials on the progress at the site and noted that parking and traffic would likely be consistent with game days.
Officials also said that seating areas would have covered bleachers, so fans could stay out of the sun.
A crew was out Tuesday constructing a part of what will be the ultimate facility.
While some are used to all the action happening so close by, others are not, but said they will have to get used to it.
“I know there was construction that was going to be coming in, but not this much,” Godbold said.
The training camp starts July 27, 2024, and lasts three weeks.
