CHARLOTTE (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — The Panthers have announced its preliminary 53-man roster. By 4 p.m. on Tuesday, teams needed to make moves to have no more than 53 players on the active roster.
The biggest move of the day has been cutting former second-round pick Terrace Marshall Jr. In three years with the Panthers, the LSU wide receiver has totaled 64 catches for 767 yards and only one touchdown. A factor in the Panthers choosing to let him go could have to do with his health. He has not appeared in all 17 games since he was drafted (13 in 2021, 14 in 2022, and only 9 in 2023). Marshall could very well be on another roster if a team chooses to claim him on waivers.
Panthers will be without 2nd round running back Jonathon Brooks for the first four games of the season. He tore his ACL in college and the Panthers placed him on the non-football injury (NFI) list as he continues his recovery.
Any player that starts the season on the NFI list, injured reserve (IR), or physically unable to perform (PUP) list must sit out for the first four games of the season. That goes for edge rusher D.J. Wonnum who is starting on the PUP list as he recovers from a torn quad.
