Carolina continues to beef up their defensive line
The Carolina Panthers are continuing their efforts to make over their defense by adding more beef up front. They have agreed to terms with former Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton on a three-year deal reportedly worth $54M.
Wharton is expected to add a stronger pass rushing element to the Panthers defensive line than Bobby Brown III. Together with a returning Derrick Brown, these two new signings will completely overhaul the three down linemen sets that defined the Panthers atrocious 2024 defense.
An undrafted free agent in 2020, Wharton has appeared in almost every game in four of his five seasons with the Chiefs. Last year he had a career high ten games started and will be looking to take the next leap as a starter with the Panthers. In his 72 career games, he has recorded 13 starts, one interception, three passes defensed, four forced fumbles, 13.5 sacks, and 114 tackles.
