CHARLOTTE (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — The Panthers have agreed to sign veteran pass rusher and University of South Carolina alum Jadeveon Clowney, the team announced on Wednesday.
Clowney, a Rock Hill native and the 2014 first-overall draft pick, spent the 2023 season with the Baltimore Ravens. His first five seasons were in Houston, then spent one year each with the Seahawks and Titans before playing in Cleveland from 2021-2022.

According to reports from NFL Network, Clowney’s deal is for two years worth $20 million, with a max value of $24 million.
In 2023, Clowny tied his career-high for sacks in a season with 9.5. In his 10 years so far in the NFL, he was named a Pro-Browler three times from 2016-2018 and was a second-team All-Pro in 2016.
Clowney is a big addition to a Panthers team that lost quite a few key pieces on defense such as Brian Burns and Frankie Luvu. However, a defensive line with Clowney and 2023 Pro-Bowler Derrick Brown, and incoming free agents DJ Wonnum and K’Lavon Chaisson, could become quite formidable.
