Injuries and needs have motivated a carousel of moves
The Carolina Panthers have conducted some mild roster churn to address their preseason injuries. Fan favorite camp cornerback Lamar Jackson and wide receiver Tayvion Robinson were waived with injury designations. Corner Anthony Brown and quarterback Jake Luton were placed on injured reserve. Running back Dillon Johnson was waived.
The #Panthers have made the following moves:
They signed RB Jaden Shirden, WR Sam Pinckney, CB Willie Drew (reunion tour for all three), DB Chris Wilcox and DB Quandre Mosley.
They put CB Anthony Brown and QB Jake Luton on IR.
They waived CB Lamar Jackson and WR Tayvion…

All players waived will be subject to waivers, those who do not get claimed by another team (watch for Jackson here) will revert to the Panthers injured reserve (IR) list. Players placed on injured reserve before the start of the season cannot be activated from IR during the regular season.
Jackson suffered an unspecified knee injury during Saturday’s preseason game against the New York Jets.
To fill those roster spots, the Panthers have signed defensive backs Willie Drew, Quandre Mosley, and Chris Wilcox, as well as running back Jaden Shirden and wide receiver Sam Pinckney.
With one week to go until the NFL’s deadline to trim the roster to 53 players, none of these guys are expected to move the needle much at their respective positions.
