It’s been seven years since the team has had a winning season. Is all losing stale?
There seems to be a subtext of hope in a lot of the conversations surrounding the Carolina Panthers these days. One the hand, the team has grown at the quarterback position in recent weeks and there is a fresh, new head coach in the building who has shown progress on previous regimes.
On the other hand, the Panthers have started the 2024 season 1-3 and haven’t had a winning season since 2017. They are 32-71 since their last playoff appearance. The team has obvious, even designed, holes, so it’s not like we’re expecting them to repeat the 2013 Panthers feat of starting 1-3 only to finish 12-4.
But the mood remains significantly brighter in every conversation I have had about this team than their record would suggest. So, in addition to the standard confidence question this week I want to ask a very simple question: did you enjoy last Sunday’s game?
Building on that idea of hope, I also want to know which player is or might be on the verge of returning from injury has you the most excited. The Panthers have been taking body blow after body blow on the injury front recently, but are currently poised to start getting healthier.
