We’re officially in whiplash territory
Dave Canales and Andy Dalton are apparently the dream team that we have all been waiting for. One win was all it took for a majority of Carolina Panthers fans to restore their confidence in their favorite team and buy into the health, consistency, and longevity of a 36-year old quarterback.
OK, maybe that last part is a bit of an exaggeration, but it’s no joke that 74% of fans are confident in the direction of the Panthers after seeing Dalton’s Week 3 performance against the Las Vegas Raiders. That’s up from 33% last week (after Dalton was announced as the starter) and from 17% two weeks ago when we were still being told that Bryce Young was the present and the future.
67% of y’all are taking your optimism further with the belief that Dalton can maintain his level of play from his debut as a starter this season. That doesn’t necessarily mean y’all all think he’s going to toss for three touchdowns and 300+ yards every week, but you’re at least expecting a competent and competitive offense. What a time to be a Panthers fan.
Finally, 56% of y’all voted for Chuba Hubbard as the runner up to Dalton as the Week 3 MVP. I voted for Robert Hunt, myself, but only 13% of fans seemed to agree with that.
Of course, Hubbard and Hunt are both going to have a harder job this week after the loss of left guard Damien Lewis to an elbow injury. Odds have already started shifting further towards the Cincinnati Bengals this week after that injury and the loss of Adam Thielen. We’ll see tomorrow if Hubbard or Hunt can step up and flip the odds in the Panthers favor.
