First impressions of the Carolina Panthers were poor
It only took a first impression to send Carolina Panthers fans running for the hills again. The hosts of the cheapest ticket in the NFL this week, the Panthers clearly have their work cut out for themselves to earn their fans’ trust again.
Our weekly confidence poll saw a drop of 62% in fan confidence. We are down to 17% of fans who think the team is going in the right direction, as compared to 72% before the season started.
That is not even the biggest drop in the NFC South, however. The Atlanta Falcons fans over at the Falcoholic saw their confidence drop from 91% to 24% after their Week 1 fiasco. That’s a 67% drop. Our friends at FanDuel seem to agree, as they’ve held the Panthers as a near-touchdown (-4.5) home underdog for most of the week.
When asked how many wins the Panthers will get this season, a plurality of respondents technically voted for progress. 27% of y’all think the 2024 Panthers are a three win team. Only 16% thought the team is capable of four or more wins.
This is compared to a poll conducted just before the season where 83% of y’all had the team at five wins or more. What a difference a week makes. It turns out Dave Canales might be new to the Panthers, but we fans have been around this block a few times.
Speaking of the difference a week can make, only 39% of y’all expect Bryce Young to show improvement as a quarterback in Week 2.
I hope, for all our sakes, that we’re wrong.
