What an attitude for a 1-3 team
Fans of the Carolina Panthers are in a good mood and watching fun football, even if their favorite team is sitting at 1-3. This weekend’s game against the Chicago Bears has the potential to feel ugly because the disastrous trade these two teams made a little over a year ago, but, setting that bad blood aside, hope for a better season is on the horizon.
In fact, there is hope for improvement in both the near and long terms. New head coach Dave Canales is bringing back the idea that football can be fun to watch and we’re all looking forward to seeing him build a team to match that philosophy. 88% of fans enjoyed last week’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals despite watching the Panthers fall to 1-3 against a beatable team.
The coming weeks should also see a lot of talent return to the defensive side of the ball that will help a unit that has been devastated by injury. That said, most of y’all are looking forward to the ‘return’ of 2024 second round draft pick Jonathon Brooks. He is a dynamic runner who might help push the Panthers’ Andy Dalton-led offense to the next level.
The overwhelming excitement for Brooks—and the offense in general—despite the impending return of four to five players who could start on this defense might explain why 67% off ans are confident of this team’s direction.
It’s unclear how long it is going to take to “become us” as Canales put it, but fans so far want to stick around and find out. That means we might not see a win this week or next, but we shouldn’t expect the Carolinas to sour on Canales as fast as they did Frank Reich, or even on Matt Rhule.
