At least we still aren’t sliding backwards
The Carolina Panthers and, perhaps more importantly, new head coach Dave Canales have established some credibility with the long suffering fans of the franchise. For years, fan confidence has myopically spiked after each win and then plummeted with each—far more frequent—loss. The Panthers have their first two-game winning streak since 2021 right now, didn’t receive any back breaking news over their bye week, and look to be holding tightly onto their renewed good will from fans while facing down one of the best teams in the NFL.
The Kansas City Chiefs have been “struggling” this year. Their 9-1 record belies a tighter season where seven of their victories have come by a touchdown or less. In fact, their fans are hilariously less confident in the current direction of their franchise than Panthers fans are.
Y’all told us that 77% of you were confident in the current direction of the Carolina Panthers. 76% of Chiefs fans feel the same way about their franchise. It’s a narrow margin, but that is apparently the story of Kansas City in 2024.
Jokes aside, the team has won more Super Bowls in the past five years than the Panthers have appeared in for a reason. They are well coached, well quarterbacked, and capable of adapting to most situations. Nobody expects the Panthers to beat the Chiefs.
That’s why we asked our second question this week to see if a loss to the Chiefs would change any of your feelings about the Panthers. Only 6% of you think you will revise your opinion to the negative about Canales and Bryce Young’s efforts if they lose this weekend.
I can’t wait to see how those numbers hold up next week and, if a miracle happens and the Panthers win, then we’ll have to keep asking this question over the rest of the season to get a better picture of the tortured psyche of a Carolina Panthers fan.
