Panthers owner David Tepper could be facing some stiff punishment from the NFL for his actions during Sunday’s game.
In a video posted to social media, Tepper appeared to toss a drink in the direction of an opposing Jaguars fan from his open-air suite; a clear violation of the league’s personal conduct policy.
NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy said the league is “aware of the video” and has “no further comment at this time,” while the Panthers declined to comment.
Technically, Tepper could be charged with assault for the the drink toss. And while there’s certainly worse things he could’ve done, its unbecoming behavior for the owner of an NFL team.
According to ProFootballTalk, the league’s conduct policy for non-players includes “assault and/or battery.” And also covers “violent or threatening behavior toward another employee or a third party in any workplace setting,” “disorderly conduct” and “conduct that undermines or puts at risk the integrity of, or public confidence in, the NFL, NFL clubs, or NFL personnel.”
We’ll see what ultimately ends up happening with the league and Tepper once their investigation concludes.
