Wide receiver Jalen Coker, safety Demani Richardson, and promising safety Russ Yeast have joined the active roster.
The Carolina Panthers front office is busy throughout the season with transactions, roster moves, and injury updates. Here’s what’s happening at Mint Street this week.
Injury Updates
Per the Panthers team website, the following players are on the injury report as of publication:
Transactions
Placed WR Adam Thielen and S Jordan Fuller on injured reserve. Oof. These injuries are going to hurt a team that’s trying to get to 2-2 on the season.
Signed WR Jalen Coker, S Demani Richardson, and S Russ Yeast to the active roster. Coker and Richardson are being elevated in light of the injuries to Adam Thielen and Jordan Fuller. The real news here is Russ Yeast is already on the active roster after being signed a week ago off waivers. Yeast, a third-year player, had 61 tackles last year with the Los Angeles Rams.
Signed S Alex Cook, CB Justin Hardee, and WR Sam Pinckney to the practice squad. Cook appeared in 10 games last year for the Panthers as a UDFA. Hardee is a veteran who has appeared in 100 career games and converted to corner back after most of his career as a wide receiver. Pinckney has yet to appear in an NFL game.
Waived TE Messiah Swinson. The UDFA has bounced around the Panthers and Green Bay Packers organizations and has been waived again.
Released OLB Eku Leota from the practice squad. The second year pro has appeared in 10 games for the Panthers over the last two seasons. He had one sack and four tackles this year before being released.
