The Panthers look to bolster the pass rush by adding a veteran Charles Harris.
The Carolina Panthers front office is busy throughout the season with transactions, roster moves, and injury updates. Here’s what’s happening at Mint Street this week.
Injury Updates
Per the Panthers team website, the following players are on the injury report as of publication:
Transactions
Placed DT Derrick Brown on injured reserve. Woof.
Signed OLB Charles Harris to the active roster. The veteran is joining his fourth team in eight NFL seasons. He has 16.5 career sacks, including 7.5 in 2021.
Signed RB Mike Boone to the active roster. The seventh-year pro ran four times for seven yards in Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints and is on the active roster heading into this weekend.
Signed CB Lonnie Johnson to the active roster. Another seventh-year NFL player, Johnson played 27 special teams snaps in Week 1.
Signed TE Feleipe Franks to the practice squad. Talk about an interesting resume. After playing quarterback in college at Florida and Arkansas and throwing for a combined 6,500 yards and 55 touchdowns, Franks was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Atlanta Falcons in 2021. The 6-foot-6, 228-pound athlete spent his rookie season as a backup quarterback, then converted to tight end in his second NFL season. He has been signed and waived multiple times by the Panthers this season and even played four offensive snaps and 17 special teams snaps against the Saints in Week 1 before being waived this week and re-signed to the practice squad.
Other transactions:
- Signed DE DeShawn Williams to the practice squad
