CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Carolina Panthers have promoted Dan Morgan to be the team’s next president of football operations/general manager, the team announced Monday.
Morgan was most recently the team’s general assistant manager. He was also a Pro Bowl linebacker with the Panthers and the team’s first-round draft pick in 2001.
Morgan was an intern with the Seattle Seahawks in 2010 and was a part of their staff during the team’s 2014 Super Bowl victory and eventually became their director of pro personnel. He moved to Buffalo in 2018 as director of player personnel.
“Dan has a thorough knowledge of our football personnel and a clear vision to take us where we all want to go,” Panthers owner David Tepper said. “We know he will attack this opportunity with the same intensity he did as a Panthers player.”
Morgan takes over for Scott Fitterer, who was hired as GM in 2021.
Coming off of a 2-15 season, Morgan will start building his roster with young pieces on both sides of the ball, including Pro Bowl defensive lineman Derrick Brown and 2023 first-overall pick quarterback Bryce Young.
The Panthers are still searching for a head coach, after firing Frank Reich 11 games into the 2023 season.
