CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Panthers’ had their first padded practice Tuesday.
When the pads went on, the Panthers’ physicality and energy stood out. Coach Dave Canales said that he loved seeing the energy from the players, but wants that energy to carry them through the season.
Sports Director Carla Gebhart also received an injury update for Daewood Davis. At practice Monday, he was carted off due to an apparent thigh injury. Davis will likely be out for the next couple of weeks.
Shaq Thompson and Taylor Moton were also not at practice, reportedly taking a rest day.
Queen City News also learned Tuesday that running back Rashaad Penny has announced his retirement after 6 seasons in the league. He only signed a 1-year deal with the Panthers following a short time with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Next Thursday, August 8, the Panthers will take on the New England Patriots for the first game of the preseason at 7 p.m.
