Into the second quarter, Head Coach Dave Canales makes his first challenge in his career with the Panthers after Falcon’s QB Kirk Cousins passes to Ray-Ray McCloud, gaining 8 yards before getting tackled by defender Michael Jackson. Shortly after, the Falcons score a touchdown by Robinson, putting them ahead of the Panthers by 5. Falcons’ Drake London makes a 3-yard touchdown, creating a 12-point gap between the Panthers. Seconds before the end of the quarter, Panthers’ Xavier Legette comes in on his horse for a 7-yard touchdown. The Panthers go into halftime, down by 5.
11 plays into the third quarter, Falcons’ Younghoe Koo makes a 21-yard field goal. Eddy Pineiro follows up with a 40-yard field goal. Every time the Panthers try to close that gap, the Falcons come back and widen it. Seconds before the end of the quarter, Koo makes another field goal. Panthers head into the final quarter, 20 to 28.
