PINEVILLE, N.C. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — As big as defensive tackle Derrick Brown is in person and on the field, his impact on the community is just as big.
On Monday night, Brown hung out with a few young kids and their families and took them on a shopping spree at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Pineville.
Dick’s gave each family a $150 gift card to spend however they pleased, with the Panthers Pro Bowl defensive tackle to cover any additional costs and offer shopping advice along the way.
Brown knows how important it is to use his platform for good, and loves every opportunity where he can to be a positive change in the community.
“I’m a firm believer in always giving back and this is an exciting thing for me to be able to do,” Brown said. “For me to be able to do anything I can to help them in this aspect, I’m grateful to be able to do it. I’ve been blessed financially, so this is one of those things that I feel like not only is it my duty, but it’s something I love to do. This is an exciting opportunity for me, and to have my son hang out, and just to be able to do things like this.”
