TAMPA, FL. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — Sunday’s rematch against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did not go the way the Panthers had hoped. With only 203 total yards and 46 plays, Carolina was dominated by Tampa as opposed to their close loss against the team in early December.
FINAL: 48 – 17
The first half was nothing short of explosive. Each team’s veteran receiver, Adam Thielen for the Panthers and Mike Evans for the Buccaneers, ended the half with two touchdowns. Quarterbacks Bryce Young and Baker Mayfield combined for more than 330 passing yards.
Although the Panthers’ offense was clicking, especially without Chuba Hubabrd, the defense was not. They allowed 27 first-half points and were down by 13 points going into halftime.
Into the third quarter, the Bucs get a 20-point lead with another touchdown by Payne Durham. Shortly after, the Bucs would make another touchdown with only three plays.
As if it could get any worse for Carolina, the Bucs have their sixth touchdown in nine plays and 85 yards in the final quarter. Game ends with their second loss to the Bucs this season.
Panthers take this loss into another rematch, this time against the Atlanta Falcons. Details on that game are still pending.
