Carolina Panthers Pro Bowl defensive tackle Derrick Brown has suffered a potentially season-ending knee injury, according to a league source. ESPN reports that Brown is set to undergo surgery for an apparent meniscus injury.
The exact timing of the injury is unclear, but Brown played 60 of the team’s 66 snaps in their 47-10 loss to the New Orleans Saints—a historically bad opening-day defeat for the Panthers.
Brown had a standout 2023 season, leading all NFL defensive linemen with 103 tackles. Earlier this year, Carolina rewarded the 2020 seventh overall pick with a four-year, $96 million contract extension.
