Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill hinted at trade requests throughout the 2024 season, with his loudest calls coming after Week 18. Hill checked out of the game during the season-ending loss and later said he wanted to leave Miami. To top it all off, the wide receiver changed his Twitter profile picture to a shirtless Antonio Brown infamously walking off the field in the last game of his career.
Despite all evidence to the contrary, General Manager Chris Grier and agent Drew Rosenhaus claim Tyreek Hill doesn’t want a trade. Rosenhaus says that the eight-time Pro Bowler is “committed” to the Dolphins. However, Hill himself has not said anything, so can we believe these two?
Tyreek Hill has always been a headache off the field, but teams deal with these sorts of things for star players. However, the wide receiver slowed down in 2024, finishing the season with just 81 receptions for 959 yards and six touchdowns. Now entering his age-31 season, Miami could save nearly $15 million in cap if they trade him after June 1st.
Perhaps Tyreek Hill truly had a change of heart and doesn’t want a trade. However, it’s more likely that Miami is lying to try and increase Hill’s market value. If a move happens over the next few months, don’t be surprised if the Carolina Panthers or Kansas City Chiefs go after him.
Tyreek Hill Trade Rumors Slow After Agent’s Comments
The future looks bright for the Carolina Panthers for the first time since Cam Newton roamed the sidelines. 2023 first-overall pick Bryce Young played up to his draft billing over the back half of the season, the offensive line is great, and head coach Dave Canales seems to be an ideal fit for the team. With the foundation for sustained success in place, it’s time for the team to aggressively make a move to raise that status over the offseason.
While the defense is the bigger need, Carolina’s offense could use a legitimate weapon like Tyreek Hill. First-round pick Xavier Legette and undrafted free agent Jalen Coker had their moments as rookies, but neither guy will likely be as good as Hill. With Adam Theilen’s possible retirement on the table, Carolina must find a weapon that can get the most out of Young in 2025. The team was competitive down the stretch, so perhaps Young, Hill, and an improved defense can guide this team to a postseason birth next year.
Reunion In Kansas City
The Kansas City Chiefs have done well without Tyreek Hill, as they won two Super Bowls after the trade and are in prime position to win another one. However, their passing offense hasn’t been the same since parting ways with the perennial Pro Bowler, and the team would likely welcome a reunion at the right price.
First-round pick Xavier Worthy finished the season on a high note, but the rest of the wide receiver room is comprised of short-term options that may not be back in 2025. DeAndre Hopkins and Marquise Brown are free agents, while second-round pick Rashee Rice will eventually face a suspension for his offseason car crash. With Travis Kelce also getting older, Patrick Mahomes could use a familiar face in 2025, and Hill is a perfect choice for the job.
