The Panthers add the former Viking on a two year deal.
According to Mike Garafolo, the Carolina Panthers have reached an agreement with former Minnesota Vikings pass rusher Patrick Jones II on a two year deal. As Garafolo notes in the Tweet, it’s a two year deal worth up to $20 million.
Jones spent the last four years in Minnesota after the Vikings selected him in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He worked his way into a rotational role and set a career high with seven sacks in 2024.
He’ll be reunited with his former teammate DJ Wonnum with both playing more outsized roles than they did in Minnesota. It’s not the splash that the Panthers attempted to make earlier in the day by almost signing Milton Williams, but every little bit helps on a defensive front that was probably the worst in the NFL last season. This certainly doesn’t solve all of the team’s problems up front, but it’s something.
