We continue our countdown towards the Panthers first regular season game
Football season is right around the corner as the Panthers are coming off their first Preseason game. Today, we take a look at #29 on the roster; cornerback D’Shawn Jamison.
Jamison came to Carolina as an undrafted free agent, though he made his first step into the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers in 2023. He was a hot topic during the Preseason at that time, however the 49ers were a very good and deep team and he didn’t survive the first round of cuts. He was signed at the very end of August that season and ended up seeing playing time in 15 games for Carolina. He netted 8 total tackles and a pass deflection in limited duty, but his biggest highlight was showcasing his speed as a lead blocker for safety Sam Franklin on his famous 99 yard interception return against the Vikings.
He put future Falcons QB Kirk Cousins in the dirt as the final potential tackler on that return. You love to see it.
I love Jamison personally, as your CSR DB stan. While the back end of the cornerback depth chart is murky, there’s no guarantees for anyone beyond Jaycee Horn and newly signed Dane Jackson. I think he slots in as a great depth piece who could contribute at the nickel when needed. And he has a great deal of special teams value.
What are your thoughts on #29, Panthers fans?
