We’re counting down the days until the Panthers kick off the 2024 season.
We’re officially 19 days away from the Carolina Panthers kicking off the 2024 NFL season against the New Orleans Saints. That’s just three weeks away! It will be their second consecutive road opener. Now it’s time for our annual roster countdown to highlight the players on the Panthers’ roster. Today, we’re taking a closer look at the player wearing the the No. 21 jersey— wide receiver Adam Thielen.
The 11-year veteran needs little introduction, despite Thielen only having one season with the Panthers so far. At 33-years of age, Thielen has been one of the more reliable wide receivers in the league since he was picked up by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2013 out of Minnesota State University.
Last season, Thielen posted a 1014 yard, four touchdown receiving line on 103 receptions in what may have been the worst season the Carolina Panthers ever strung together. Those numbers are all approximately one third of the team’s total passing production.
This season, the Panthers have new blood in the receiving room. They have welcomed the likes of free agent signing Diontae Johnson and first round draft pick Xavier Legette, among others, in an attempt to upgrade the talent around former number one overall draft pick Bryce Young. That gives Thielen, in theory, the opportunity to be the elder statesman of the receiving corps that he was signed to be instead of the workhorse that he was in 2023.
How about it Panthers fans, what do you expect from Thielen this season? Scroll on down to the comments and share your thoughts with us!
