Welcome back to international Football
The NFL season is back abroad with the second game of the season. A rare Friday night game is being played between the 0-0 Green Bay Packers and the 0-0 Philadelphia Eagles in São Paulo, Brazil. Kickoff will be at 6:15 ET/7:15 Brasilia Time and will stream on Peacock.
As always in our brave new world of expansive sports gambling, it is now easier to bet on games than to watch them. You can catch current odds on all NFL games for Week 1 here on FanDuel.
Looking towards the game tonight, we are being treated with a preview of two potential NFC heavy weights. The Packers are hoping to prove Jordan Love is the real deal and the Eagles are looking to rebound from a disappointing finish to last season (lost six of their last seven games and then were trounced by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of all teams in the Wildcard round).
Both teams are sporting new defensive coordinators and the usual host of questions that go along with them. The Eagles are also running a new offense, having brought in former head coach candidate Kellen Moore to run a new offense with quarterback Jalen Hurts. Changing two coordinators the same year you made the play offs is the kind of bold decision making I like to see from a franchise, and that’s why I’m picking the Philadelphia Eagles to win tonight in Brazil.
As always, use this space to talk about the action as it unfolds.
You know the drill.
This is now an open thread!
