As the second round of the NBA Playoffs gets underway, the other teams in the NBA are in off-season mode, including the Charlotte Hornets, after injuries took away any chance of the team competing for a spot in the Play-In tournament. When Steve Clifford announced he was stepping down at the end of the season, it brought into focus the main objective for the 2024 off-season, finding a coach that turn the franchise not only back into a winner, but a contender in the Eastern Conference. With over a month’s worth of work into the search, the Hornets are finding out that even with LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller on the roster, the job isn’t as desired as it should be, given the young talent that’s already established itself at the NBA level.

Nata Edwards, the producer of the Eye on College Basketball Podcast, joined the Wes & Walker Show on Tuesday, as he put on his NBA thinking hat, to talk about the Hornets off-season. Nata explains why Charlotte shouldn’t be interested in hiring JJ Redick, what’s next for LaMelo Ball after another season defined by injury, the blueprint they should emulate the most to become a winning franchise, and how they should operate in the NBA Draft, with the assumption they’ll own another top-5 pick.
You can listen to the Wes & Walker Show (Charlotte’s #1 midday show), every day from 12-3 PM, on Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ, and the WFNZ app.
