The Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight has already had a ton of outcomes many weren’t expecting.
Fans assumed there’d be a knockout to end the fight in the opening rounds but were also dismayed when Netflix’s live streaming capabilities weren’t up to par. Viewers were left with buffering and pixelated images that often froze during the entire eight-round fight.
But the fight’s results are taking another turn now that Paul and Tyson have been suspended by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Both fighters automatically receive a 24-day suspension after their fight at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. However, the suspension is not to punish the two boxers for anything wrong; it’s just to ensure that they both physically recover after the grueling boxing match.
In fact, the mandatory rest is calculated by the number of rounds fought. Since it lasted eight rounds, three days are required per round.
“Contestants shall automatically receive rest periods, medical suspensions, or medical disqualifications for the following…” The official rules read. “All contestants shall receive a mandatory rest period calculated as three days of rest for each round fought with no less than a seven-day mandatory minimum rest period.”
But beyond the break, Paul plans to continue his promising boxing career. Although he’s only been a professional fighter for around five years, he’s proved that he has true staying power in the profession. At just 27 years old, he’s got a 10-1 record—seven of which were knockouts—and has fought respected names like Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, and Tyron Woodley.
But Tyson, at 58, might be calling it quits after the Paul fight. He even took to X afterward to explain the medical journey he’s been on since June, and despite the loss, he’s happy he was even able to get into the ring.

“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time. I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won,” he wrote on social media. “To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for.”
