The Miami Dolphins‘ loss to the Buffalo Bills isn’t the most important realization after last night’s game against the Buffalo Bills.
During Thursday night’s game against the Bills, Miami was down most of the game. Since they were trailing 31-10 in the fourth quarter, Tua Tagovailoa decided to make a run on fourth down in hopes of making a late-game run.
However, as soon as he makes a first down, he’s met with Damar Hamlin‘s shoulder, which leaves him on the turf following a hard head hit. He’s slow to get up, so his teammates crowd around him before team officials eventually run from the sidelines to check his condition.

After the hit, his arms were in the air, moving sporadically, and according to CBS, it was a clear sign of a brain injury called ‘fencing.’
“He hit his head twice. First on the tackle, second on landing. This young man simply doesn’t have the luxury of having multiple concussions and [then thinking] he will have a long career. … [It’s] not fair to himself and his family,” injury expert Marty Jaramillo said.
Following the brutal head hit, Tagovailoa eventually got up and left the game.
With all the injuries he’s incurred, his coach, Mike McDaniel, is worried about his QB’s health.
“My thought was concern. I was just worried about my guy. Not something you ever want to be a part of; you hope not to,” McDaniel said. “The furthest thing from my mind is what is the timeline,” McDaniel said. “We just need to evaluate and just worry about my teammate, like the rest of the guys are. We will get more information tomorrow and take it day by day from there.”
The frontman for the Miami Dolphins has a history of severe concussions and is just two seasons removed from them.
Back in 2022, his first happened when he tried to backpedal out of getting sacked but got wrapped up by Bengals nose tackle Josh Tupou, who grabbed him by the waist and tackled him to the ground. He seized up immediately and appeared to stare at his hyper-extended and bent fingers before eventually being carted off the field.
Then, in a Week 16 game against the Green Bay Packers, he threw three interceptions after initially being pulled from the game. Afterward, he was diagnosed with a concussion and missed the final two games of the season.
His most recent tackle comes from Damar Hamlin, who was in cardiac arrest after getting hit during a 2022 game. So he understood the seriousness of the game, so he sent him a heartfelt message after the game, tweeting, “My love and prayers with @Tua fasho. Sending you strength and healing for a speedy recovery. much love broski.”
