Matt Rhule is comfortable at Nebraska right now but he didn’t used to be comfortable in his last stop.
Before he took the Nebraska job, he was the head coach of the Carolina Panthers but it didn’t last long. He was with them for two and a half seasons before owner David Tepper saw enough and fired him during the 2022 season.
He ended up finishing with an 11-27 record and he even called the day he got let go a “proud” moment for his career.
“Owning the fact that I was leaving, I was proud of them, and I was grateful. Not slinking off into the night. Not being a sheep, standing there like a lion and talking to them, and going down with the ship,” Rhule said, via FootballScoop.

2023 was Rhule’s first season at Nebraska and he led the program to a 5-7 record.
He’s hoping to get the Cornhuskers to at least a bowl game in 2024 as he continues to rebuild the program.
