CHARLOTTE (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — The Panthers, once again, lost in their first home game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Chargers started the game with a nine-play drive ending in a touchdown to second-year wide receiver Quentin Johnston. They missed the extra point so it was just a 6-0 lead.
Unfortunately, the Panthers’ offense wasn’t so pretty in the first as they started with four straight 3-and-outs. Through those four drives, the Panthers totaled only 15 yards. On the next drive, the Chargers responded with another touchdown to Johnston. Right after that, after the Panthers got their first first down of the game, Bryce Young threw an interception which the Chargers capitalized with another trip in the endzone (this time a 44-yard carry by J.K. Dobbins).
The Panthers couldn’t muster up anything else on offense and went into the locker room down 20-0 with only 54 yards, 150 less than the Chargers.
Into the third quarter, the Panthers’ Eddy Pineriro secures a 38-yard field goal finally getting the Panthers’ on the board. It doesn’t take long for the Chargers to make another field goal, the Panthers remain down by 20.
Chargers push forward with a 67-yard field goal while Panthers attempt to make passes to gain some yards. In the end, the Panthers continue their lossing streak with their final score 26-3.
