Eagles center Jason Kelce didn’t hold back his true feelings about Panthers owner David Tepper during the latest episode of the “New Heights” podcast.
Tepper was fined $300,000 by the NFL for tossing a drink at a Jaguars fan this past Sunday. His actions didn’t sit well with Kelce, who claims he’d rather get punched in the face than have a drink thrown at him.
“Throwing a drink, or like spitting on somebody is just like — I’d rather you just punch me in the face,” Kelce said. “I don’t know why that is so much more disrespectful to somebody. There’s an air of like, ‘I’m better than you’ in that toss.’ Is that fair to say or am I being a little too harsh?
“Punching me in the face out of anger is not disrespectful. Throwing a drink on me or spitting on me is disrespectful. Does that make sense?”
Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce pretty much agreed with his brother’s take, calling it a “snooty” move on Tepper’s part.
Tepper apologized for his behavior, releasing a statement on Tuesday night.
“I am deeply passionate about this team and regret my behavior on Sunday,” Tepper said. “I should have let NFL stadium security handle any issues that arose. I respect the NFL’s code of conduct and accept the League’s discipline for my behavior.”
The Panthers will finish the 2023 season this Sunday against the Buccaneers. That game will be played at Bank of America Stadium.
